Hearts and Brains Youth Volunteers
Project: Bahay Tuluyan
Brgy. West, General Santos City
Bahay Tuluyan was constructed through community effort to provide students refuge during schooldays. In remote parts of Sarangani where 30-40% of the schoolchildren are from hinterlands, it takes a staggering 14-20 kilometers (an 8-hour walk) to get to school. On rainy days, pupils have to face floods, and even possible landslides. These conditions discourage students from attending classes. With Bahay Tuluyan, Hearts and Brains Youth Volunteers aim to help them through those difficulties, and have no IP children left behind. - TAYO Facebook Page
